Used a D.C. Voltage source as the solar panel.

Used capacitor as battery.

Relay and diodes control the flow of charge while sun is charging capacitor and when capacitor is discharging.

Use switch to initiate change between day and night.

Good information, it can be developed into a full blown system, I have made a semiconductor circuit using a pfet and a ldr at http://everycircuit.com/circuit/4559448240816128
