VT should be somewhere around half the supply. in cmos there's no problem cuz inverters itself divide at half supply whatever it is. available here inverters do not even catch whats goin on when i try to force them to work at all.

yes this is so far most simpliest ADC circuit idea i found on net so far. here i just made it using discrete devices (orginal use cmos not gates) and it's quite handy. one cmos 4049 ic and couple of resistors or four small mos transistors and crude simple 16 step conversion can be made. IC supply serve also as reference voltage .
