555 timers max out at 1MHz (500kHz if you want temperature stability)

Everything is theory until the first one is actually physically working. No?

I just ran some tests, (real). A TTL's slew rates limit fMAX to just over 1MHZ, the slew rates on a CMOS are much better at about 70ns rise/fall time, limiting it to about 7 MHz. But that's connected as a Schmitt trigger gate, (best case).

I'm not knocking his effort, just pointing out that every circuits' SPICE engine ignores some details, otherwise it would take literally forever to simulate on android.
