if you can figure and create the diagram for those small boxes that come with some christmas lights that have different flashing modes(not leds).....im intrested in seeing how the chasing mode works. and if you have the skills.....prooooove it lol usually there are... 4 pnp transistors 2 risitors 1 capacitor and a full wave rectifier

I believe that the basic requirement is bulbs wired in groups of three. Cycle those three and have the next three cycle and so on and so on. Keep the three bulbs in the proper sequence, end to end. The sequence will take care of itself.

I meant to say, that the chasing sequence will take care of itself. All based on that sequence of three, 1, 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, etc. etc. All of the #1 lamps wired and driven at the same moment. All of the #2 lamps wired and driven... Well, you get the idea. Only three lamp drivers required. With enough amps for all of the lamps (divided by 3).

Dude! Germain! I thought we lost ya there buddy! Vaporized by some crazy-bright flashlight or somethin'. Glad to see you're alive and kikinit.. X^]

About the circuit- are you talking about those uber-nifty cascading LED tubes people have as xmas decoration?. .

Finally im back! drank too much Russian eggnog n out of no where a wall ran into me, making me hug the floor which lead to a cracked screen on my phone. but santa got me a new one....soooo..

#sine_eyed: waaaad up n thanks for being concerned about me being vaporized by a flashlight but I have managed to lose about half of my eye sight n 3rd degree burns to my face due to my experiments with high power flashlights lol

#sine_eyed: and no i was talking about the traditional christmas light bulbs but christmas is over n my wallet is drained out...so lets not talk about christmas for at least 364 days lol but I been checking ur circuits hoping to learn something new but bro ...u been slacking it eh

Yo, got ur msg. Sorry to hear about your face. And your wallet. Oh yeah and getting wall-nogged! Brutal. About the chrism... um, the lights- the normal no special reason to have them up kinda lights- (you might wanna sit down for this) I have no friggin idea dude! I have scoured the net looking for ANYTHING that would help me make cool CRAP out of a bunch of STUPID LIGHTS!! I did find some cool stuff of course, but that's all LED related circuitry- nothing for the incandescents. Then again, hmmmm..........

sounds like u have had a bad and "shocking" experience with incandescent christmas lights huh but its ok buddy christmas is over thank u baby Jesus but what have u been im all about lasers diodes at the moment its intresting knowing what it takes to focus one how to power on....u know?

No, I've had no mishaps of that nature, I was just venting a little cuz when I started into electronics it was really just a piece to a puzzle, another means to a greater end. You see, my imagination is always like 3or 4 steps ahead of my ass- I'll see something in the world that might spark my imagination and I start seeing diagrams and working models and such of form and function in my mind and it's badass I can tell but there's one problem: I dunno how to make the damn thing! It'll be super cool but it's beyond my current know-how. See where I'm headed?- so I had a few ideas for some neat-o-burrito interior lighting concepts, but I had zero knowledge of electronics at the time. I didn't know a MosFet from a BobaFett! So my ass had to play catch-up again, and BAM- here we are. Learning about gizmos in order to make gadgets..

As far as those lights go, are you sure those are the only components involved? It might be possible but I'm leaning towards there being a microcontroller in there somewhere. You might look again- they can be small, like SMD small- most likely a 6 or 8 pin DIP. And keep an eye out for a little bitty dab of blackish epoxy/resin lookin'stuff along with the other components on the PCB- that's a factory applied MiCon protectant. Lemme know what you find..

Oh, and here's something your newfound appetite for lasers can digest for a while-- http://donklipstein.com/laserdps.htm

I feel you on that 100% I couldn't of described myself any better then how u described yourself at times I feel I should get a tattoo across my forehead with the phrase "Easier said then done" but u cant accomplish anything in life with out a lil imagination. and for the Christmas lights there is a microcontroller that I guess does control the different modes but I just wanted to learn how to make them chase but enough with christmas. ...

.....and you sir u are a magician. ive have looked n even searched past page 1 on Google(and nobody needs to go pass page 1 to find what their looking for) and did not find this gold mine of a website that you have provided me with. its a darn shame we didnt have this conversation 18 laser diodes ago may the rest in piece. remember its the voltage that kills u its the amps n thats what happen to those 18 diodes lol
