Today i disassembled one cheap chinese light bulb. There are basically 3 component in it. A capacitor , a FULL BRIDGE RECTIFIAR , and 24-30 high efficiency LED's in series. Obvious one of this leds blow up , and the light bulb wont work. This circuit can be fixed adding a capacitor in the bridge rectifier output and place a 1W 1Kohm resistor in series to the 680nF capacitor. http://s.aliexpress.com/Jf2YbIja

Interessting to see how arrogant people try to fix problems, but just move it from one end to the next component. To avoid inrush current, you need a current limiting resistor like 1kOhm. Greetings from China!

@hurz yes i know , but i think a smooth current is better than a 100Hz flashing led

You know what?

Hey hurz how is it going?

The capacitor that i add can do the job. I know that connecting the bulb to the main the inrush current can instantly kill the leds.

@niki, fine! @bryan, you have moved the inrush problem to the rectifier. Forget the cap and put a 1kOhm resistor in series to the voltage source. And please post a link of this light bulb.

@bryan are you sure, a 400V 100uF cap in a E14 socket? I would like to see a foto of your modification! Anyway, the cap is not needed and much to expensive.

100v 47uF is enought
