I'm pretty sure you should never use a BTJ without a resistor to limit current to the base, unless you really know what you're doing. If you knew what you were doing, i'm sure that motor would have enough current to start running, but it's about 25% too little.

@eekee The motor specifications require the time base to be set to the 1 second rate.
