Shake to start. This circuit is a Colpitts oscillator using a BJT in common-collector configuration, the feedback that keeps the oscillator going is provided by the capacitors, charge is stored on the lower cap before being discharged back into the LC tank, this configuration has good amplitude stability. I've tested this on a breadboard up to 110MHz with reasonable performance, above that you really need to solder, this circuit may require some tweaking for optimal performance. EC really needs to include JFETs!!
