A linear regulator with a zener diode. You asked what a zener diode is. Well it's much like a normal diode in forward direction, but a zener diode is never used in a forward connection. Instead it's always placed in reverse juction. It's specially made to have a very controllable reverse voltage breakdown. The ripple rejection is -92dB
