Weird circuit help

I am trying to use the transistor as a switch to power the lamp at 3v. The switch should activate the transistor and charge the cap, then when the switch is opened, the cap discharges to keep the transistor open for a little while longer. Any help is greatly appreciated!

:-)channel MOSFET does not pass enough current for your lamp.

Capacitor is bypassed and is not charging in this circuit.

Thank you very much! I may be editing this circuit to work on PNP instead of NPN, anything I need to keep in mind? I plan on the trigger being a IR reciever going low for a v ery short amount of time. When the IR reciever outputs high, it's a 1V, 5mA signal. That should be plenty to drive the base of the transistor, correct?
