Easy to build and works very well transistors are 2N3904 add a nice thick copper wire to the base of the first transistor if u make it a coil u can increase the range u can add a buzzer inline with the LED to and last build it into a project box touching the circuit will cause interference

I recall seeing this circuit in youtube, the guy only needed the antenna to get close to the insulated ac wire and the LED light up... brilliant design and absolutely safe :)
