1MOhm resistor represents resistance of tap water (at least as I measured it).  Idea came from Nov issue of Nuts and Volts.  Logic was my addition.  Happy Holidays!

You know it really sucks to try to build a stimulated circuit in reality; nothing ever goes as planed the first time without having to troubleshoot multiple things, before it actually works. It takes too much time to play with the values.
