Interesting, but draws more current when off than on: 30.1mA vs. 18.3mA. Perhaps you want to increase the width of the MOSFET to drive a greater load? And I don't think you meant to connect ground there.

@eekee, ground here makes sense for this demonstration, cuz the voltage gate source is in focus.

eekee, the low current draw when on was mainly due to the lamp set to only 480mW, I modified it to show bigger load switching. And as hurz pointed out, the ground is placed there to focus on gate voltage.

eekee, you could reduce the off current draw by increasing the value of the gate resistor, at the cost of losing switching speed, as you need to keep in mind the gate capacitance.
