Wanted to increase power of my 3v laser pointer, . So that's not happening until I get a better laser,  thinking  removing the resistor would help but nope, need a stronger laser diode

like an LED, they only put out a finite amount of light as you ramp up current. After that, it's just heat and death. rarely you might score a laser pointer with an overrated diode in it that can be driven harder than the original circuit does; but more often the diode is already running at its limir
