An R2R ladder, one of the most simple binary weighted DACs. This is an 8-bit configuration with the LSB on the left side.
These are usually good enough for simple circuits but are susceptible to noise, voltage drop, and inaccuracies due to small imperfections in each resistor.
Exercise: Try setting the voltmeter to a different spot in the ladder, and see how that affects the result. Does Vmax change? Does the resolution change?
