"NOT" Gates used for super high speeds(2.5GHz), but the TTL drains lots of power. INPUT=BLUE RTL OUTPUT=RED CMOS OUTPUT=GREEN

Nice comparison

Thanks! RTL does drain the power alot more than CMOS, and CMOS keeps up more with the high speed. Lol.

Quite hard to model acurately transistors at such speeds here. At 2.5 gHz inductances of tracks having lenght even few mm plays substantial role. More bjt have base static resistance at quite high value 15-20 ohms due to base region so thin that resistance rises up and its no way to drop it back. Ordinary mos transistors also suffer from nasty capacitances whose create at such frequencies not only reactive power flow but also became an active load cuz capacitive heating is damn strong at frequencies around 300MHz so at 3ghz we all know how powerful cpu looks like wearing as medieval knight tons of metal junk plus couple of fans extra and 0,5kw supply for sure operation

Thankyou, Secuture. That's crazy! I've always wonder about how fast processors have to be to function lots of data. Lol.

CPU's are getting more efficient by the hour. As the integration rate increases (now less than 18nm) efficiency increases due to the less capacitive effects and such.
