Is there a manual or any kind of help with the basic layout and/or EC's basic user interface? Other than the few Examples the EC app comes with please. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you :)

I wish there was- almost everyday. I think the devs kindof assumed that someone buying this app would have at least some knowledge of basic electronics so that the workspace would be somewhat intuitive. Sometimes I guess it doesn't work our that way. But, here in the community there are users that can help. I'll go first- what would you like to know?..

Yes, while EC is an excellent app for learning about electricity and electronics it does assume you already know the basics. Starting with your circuit above ..

The ground at the bottom right. EC requires you to use one and the standard is to connect it to the negative (-) side of your powersupply, the item at the bottom left.

The circuit above is 'open' and thus not functional. A 'closed' circuit has components and wires that connect the power supply's positive (+) to (-). Don't forget to ground the negative.

Connect the - to the ground and the open side of the resistor to 'complete' the circuit. Press the "play" symbol to run the simulation.

TIP .. I had to drag the ground to the - in order for it to connect.

Here are some good sources for learning about circuits. This explains the symbols in EC http://www.tigoe.com/pcomp/code/circuits/understanding-electricity/ This is a good instructable to teach basic elements http://www.instructables.com/id/E3A8EMKGW88LAQS/ This is a series of comprehensive lessons in electricity and electronics

thank you, but it's not basic electronics that I need help with, but the EC app itself. How to use the program and what the various menus do and how they work. Exactly the kinda of stuff that would be in the manual(

if one were to imagine what such a manual(user guide) might look like.

Best thing is to read through the Examples section and/or search for circuits similar to what you might want to build. Another good app is called "Lessons in Electronics"

Thanks Igor, there may be some help that a person might get after watching the youtube link you gave, I don't speak Spanish so after watching that through for possible interface help(visually, by seeing what he was doing in the video) I tbere is nothing to be gained. Wyoelk, I need help specifically with the actual EC app, not basic electronics help! Like I've said numerous times now, as you would have realized/understood had you my entire post. Suggesting I read "basic electronics" has nothing to do with the user interface and menu layout specific to EveryCircuit. Kinda like a EC manual would provide(had this app come with one) Also again, reading through the Examples does nothing to teach a person the workings of this app.

It's really not very complicated. Sure, there is no manual- but I think it is a lot to ask of someone to just go ahead and explain it all. I suggest you pose a specific question about one of the aspects of the program you're unsure of or would like to know more about..

It's a lot to ask for a manual for software that you paid them for? That's ridiculous. Lol

I have to agree, I have just purchased this and have no idea how to link components together, you would have thought some basic advise would help how to put things together

Six years after this post it's the only thing I can find in regards to a user manual for this app. I also paid up front before trying it. It's not that it's so complicated, just that documentation should be a given.
