looks like development went like this: frustration at slow start because the simulation speed was unsuitable for a motor -> adjust fets the wrong way -> more frustration -> make ridiculous motor adjustments -> release. basically, it's everybody's first motor circuit. here's a version with those problems mostly fixed, (but not the reliance on gate capacitance holding a charge): http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6551114987339776
