A rough outline of the path and approximate voltage and resistor values for an automatic cell balancer for lithium 8 cell batteries.  I have an 8 relay board that is represented here by the SPST switches that can put individual resistors in and out of the circuit.
The low resistance resistors here are acutally an 8 pin db connector and the volt meters are mux card channels in a 34970
