Only works with the right sim speed This is a colpits oscillator with a slightly non standard topology. It's ideal as a VFO. I've used this style of colpits in the regenerative receiver that I posted a while back which in reality is disciplined with a resonator. Even with the ceramic resonator, the frequency can be pulled by 300khz. This is due to the inductor that I hung off the resonator. It has a very useful stability over a relatively large frequency range. Here I've shown it running from 7.5 volts Feel free to provide insightful insults and other comments. You are also welcome to actually discuss the circuit and its uses if you like? Here 100 ns/s Enjoy 73

What does "VFO" stand for? If you meant VCO then you're wrong because it is stable in frequency in relation to supply voltage.

OK yes I should have said vco. Its stable with respect to supply voltage but then this is true for any voltage controlled oscillator. Here in EC we lack a varicap diode so we cannot easily simulate the type of voltage controlled frequency change that is possible when employing a variable capacitor diode. I use this circuit with a few 1n4007 diodes used as varicap diodes
