AC to DC 5V converter

Attempting to make a 5V 2A charging circuit with standard 120 AC @ 60Hz. This will be constantly updated.

Start by making the primary have 100 turns, and the secondary have 10 turns, giving you a 10:1 ratio(or any number so long as the ratio is the same. I just like to say at least ten turns because I don't know of any transformer that has less, let alone 1 like the default is on this), set the inductance of the transformer to 1 Henry. This will give you a nice steady 12 vac to rectify, and you can set up a vr(voltage regulator) that will accomplish the 5 vdc output you're looking for. Any questions look at some of my circuits, I believe I have one very similar to this.

Yes, rich, what you're trying to say is that 120 is the rms voltage, and 169 is the peak to peak from your wall adapter. You could also go 120/.707. So yes make the power supply a 170 volt peak to peak and that will be more realistic. Then the 10:1 transformer will give about 17 vac peak to peak. Rectify this to dc, and send it through a voltage regulator and it will be a nice dc output.

Sorry, your peak will be 170, peak to peak would actually be 340 volts.
