Comparator from scratch

Based on lm339 docs and YouTuber "w2aew" https://youtu.be/xR0RfmmRhDw Configure the two inputs on the left and see the output on the right voltmeter. Current draw for the actual circuit is measured and very minimal.

Hurz, any chance you could make a modified copy of this circuit and illustrate the difference between an op amp and a comparator with changes to the circuit?

Take care in design OpAmps and Comparators. Comparators do work perfect from one rail to the other rail. And if it's perfect, it's only on rail positive and rail negative. No voltages in between, cuz the output of a comparator is not a voltage driven output, it's mostly a current driven one. OpAmps do not like to be driven into saturation like you are allowed with ease to do with Comparators. Check the different BJT designs and you will see what's the difference is and you will never mix a OpAmps with Comparator!
