Common collector. Good for unregulated pw supplies with load fluctuations. The zener diode is regulating the voltage. The current load on the zener diode is limited to that required to drive the base. The voltage at the load resistor is maintained regardless of the current requirements. The darlington setup increases the available current for the load.
