When collector is connected to power source, it ignores the LED and passes through the transistor at the place. This represents then the state ON = OFF (1=0).
In counter part, when the collector is not connected to the power source, the transistor doesn't let the current through. The LED is then the only possible option. This represents the state OFF = ON (0=1)
