The 120° phase is backwards.

how is it backwards isn't each phase 120 degrees shifted? 0,120,240?

As rich said, rotate the upper voltage source and its fine. Rotate (inverting the voltage) does cause a 180° phase shift and cause by accident only a +-60° phase instead of wanted 120°. Hope this helps.

My quiz answer: icon shape...The ac source icon would cause less confusion if it were to have a definite shape, say  more like a diode icon instead of the lamp icon....That is because it does not work the same both ways round. The Z-S tilde symbol on the icon only makes the confusion worse, since they can be interchanged to represent either of the two positions. It is too easy to unwittingly connect its wires back to front....A small detail but an easy mistake to make. Workaround....always attach an earth icon to the bottom leg of an ac source icon as soon as you put it on your page.

Thanks I would have never figured that the AC source was inverted, I wouldn't of thought that mattered
