What it is is an 18db low pass filter with low q factor... Better use 24db filters, to geta better sine wave. This is more of a triangle wave.

This is actually a low pass filter. It allows to pass low frequencies and block high frequencies

this is a 3 stage rc low pass butterworth with -60db/decade roll off, to reduce damping at cutoff you can use a tuned LC or an active low pass.
