Slow button push builds large spark to jump spark gap. If gasoline or explosive igniting fuel is used make sure long wire to spark gap is used. Use high turns ratio transformer like on small gasoline engine or car ignition coil.
With care one should be able to disconnect mower plug wire and connect spark gap ignitor to plug wire and engine block and pull mower start cord to generate spark at ignitor.
