It is a 4-bit RAM. It has 5 inputs : 1) Select. 2) Data input. 3) Write/Read. 4) Shift. 5) CLK. When Select is 1, the RAM becomes active. Make Write mode = 1. For every bit serial data input, make shift 1 and 0, to store data manually. Make Read mode = 0. Serial Data Output is indicated by glowing LED. Now, keep Data Input = 0, write mode = 1, point the 3-pin switch toward CLK. Wait few seconds to see data cleared/reset. Now keep the 3-pin to Shift and make all first 4 pins low (0). Done!

What is the difference between an SRAM made up of a d- flip flop and the traditional SRAM cell? (Sorry but internet didn't help me very much).

Essentially, none. Some details: Scale of integration, abstraction level down to FETs rather than gates, addressing of cells, streamlining everything to achieve good timing. But at the core of individual cells is the storage method the same.
