Close the variable resistor contact arm to one of the ends of the variable resistor, then get rid of the PNP transistor to a NPN transistor, then get rid of the bottom resistor, last change the variable resistor to 80kΩ instead of 1kΩ.

It should be noted that if someone intends to follow this, or any similar schem for a real life build, using a potentiometer is a great way to emulate the LDR- however the real photocell's resistance should be tested using a multimeter in both darkness and in full light. The LDR will show a much larger value when it's dark, and that value is what should be transposed onto the pot here, for simulation..
