Anybody know how to build a simple induction heater with power over 1k watt?

Have a look at the old companies who perfected it years ago. Induction Benders UK.

Or make a zvs based one, here is an example: http://everycircuit.com/circuit/4850049360592896

It's not so simple, especially at such power levels you require. Better buy one :/

Yes it is way better to buy one

You can try using one of the online circuits, but induction heaters use resonant coils, and often due to eddy currents and such, the coil shifts its inductance, goes off-resonance and drops the output power, while the rest of the power is dissipated somewhere else as heat. Professional induction heaters, have dynamic resonance control, to always keep the coil in tune with the circuit, so that maximum power levels can be obtained. Believe me, i had some interest in such circuits a while back, but even as experienced as I am, I backed out. It's not worth the trouble. Just buy one.
