I've seen configuration many times in this community, but I chose to ignore it ..... today I saw it on some circuit, and when I saw what it does I got so interested. But what I dont get is the operation of this particular configuration. Any help is appreciated.

It's a thyristor replacement. Once activated it will act as a latch until deactivated.

Sort of a bistable latch.

And it also allows current to pass just in one direction, like a diode.

Thats a MR. Shottky model that was proposed by him as most accurate in terms of behaviour way to simulate behaviour of new Shockleys 4-layer N-PNP and P-NPN hook's collector transistors.

From this transistor originate whole tbyristor family but original and this 2 transistor model are intended also for linear operation as ordinary amplifier. One difference is strong static negative resistor properties at both bases this gizmo posses. It also forms a simpliest widegain noninverting configuration u can build using junction transistor (widegain means all possible gain can be featured by output curent, voltage or resistance)
