You should completely remove all connectivity to/from voltage source, connect the I/O switch from the + pin of the voltage source to the + rail of the LED array. This will prevent the circuit from shorting when the switch is used.

This is a Derivation of your circuit.. In this particular circuit I have reconnected the switch the the positive rail and have rearranged the LED's so that the voltage supply may be lowered to just 2V
