This amplifier takes a 26mv signal and amplifies it to ~8 volts. The 1 volt dc supply and diode act as a diode clamp and boost the +-26mv to 1.26v +-13mv. This keeps the amplifier from going below ground. The RC circuit on the emitter of the amplifier act as an a/c bypass and tunes the beta of the transistor. This removes the dc bias and sets the amplification factor of the transistor. The resister at the top of the collector sets the collector voltage at midpoint so the transistor has more dynamic range.
