This boost converter is manual but can produce high voltages with hundreds of amps of output from only 5V DC (could definitely kill you even from a 5V source like we have here) it requires a high Henry inductor and a high capacitance capacitor, and some high voltage rated diodes (adjust the circuit to make a convenient voltage)
To use it, first switch the furthest left switch, that will activate the charging of the inductor, and when you're ready to charge the capacitor just turn this switch off, you will see the capacitor will charge to a few hundred volts, or more depending on how much you waited for the voltage of the inductor to fall towards 0 (orange line), you can then output all of this power to a resistor using the right side switch, you can play around with resistances to see how much current and for how long it is capable of delivering (also play with the timing, it's really interesting to see how it all works)
