Coil pulse generator with 555 IC added to try to make a boost converter - One of my first IC circuits. This is my pulsecoil circuit with 555 added and some minor mods. Can u tell me what is wrong the circuit because it is not boosting voltage.

Your circuit took a bit of straightening, but let's see, 1. the coil is on the wrong side of the transistor. 2. One transistor is not enough to operate the circuit. 3. The frequency is too high. 4. The 555 hasn't got enough drive on its output to drive the circuit. 5. the capacitor is too big. 6. The circuit can only put out micro power, so the output resistor needs to be removed. http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5600763976089600

OK Thanks as u can probably tell I am a bit new to electronics..I based 555 portion of a document I had which used the output pin instead of discharge pin..I suspected the freq was too high and cap value not right as u stated also.

Over time there have been far better example of this circuit, I can't remember how they were constructed, or if the output was more rugged than my example. The one thing that I have found helps most is to lay the circuit out neatly, this way you can follow a signal through it, and see where it is running into problem.

OK Thanks again..I put together circuits very quickly so they are bound to have flaws..I used 1 npn as I've seen a few very simple boost circuits online using that not sure if they work very well tho..Any ideas on how to increase power of circuit?

Here's a circuit that was posted in early November, if you check back you can find the original author, http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6088566744809472

If I modify and save this circuit again with a new name will this circuit disappear from the community.

No, the file still stays there, you just save a copy in your own folder (offline). If you want to do an online copy you have to make a new one from scratch an post it on line.
