I don't know much of anything about electronics other than what I've read from this app. At work we needed a 12v DC supply and I could only find a 12v ac transformer. So I made this diagram and salvaged parts from junk electronics and made this rectifier and covered it in heat shrink with the wire and works just fine for the little light. The flicker gives it personality. I appreciate your time

Great Job on never giving up. Mains voltage is actually 170 volts ac.. ac voltage of 120 is the root mean square (RMS) of 169... if you can find a old computer, the power supply units output a steady 3.3, 5. And 12 volts. (and -12 at around 300watts.). Most of them if you connect the green wire to a black (-) wire, your signaling it to turn on. Electrodoc Pro is a program I recommend.

Electrodoc Pro will have that and other power supplys pinouts and connections.
