At first I couldn't figure out the reason for the overshoot. No inductors...so... Then I remembered that an LED also can produce voltage from light. The instant the circuit is broken, the LEDs are still producing light. That (failing) light produces a very brief voltage. Thus the overshoot. Of course I could be wrong.
