That's how its done. Only one way to do it right, and that's with the stop button actually stopping the circuit lol. As apposed to some of those little Einsteins who make the start button bypass the stop button. Never should the start button override the stop. Thats why they make E-stop buttons for a emergency stops, and never has there been a E-go button for a emergency start.
