As the capacitor in the middle charges, it forces the green net in the opposite direction due to the polarity of this capacitor. The capacitor near the orange output is pumped down as the negative charge collects across its plates. Why does both the cathode and anode of the central capacitor go to half the input voltage when the switching starts? I have no idea - please tell me! Maybe because the mosfets act as a voltage divider?
