Over voltage protection circuit

Demonstration of an over voltage protection. When the voltage of the supply raises above 3v, the supply to the load (lamp) is cut off immediately , and the red fault indicator LED is turned on.

I get the idea. The idea of setting up a split voltage supply just to turn on an LED doesn't jive with me, though. It could easily be done by using a transistor as an inverter.

It is actually at 2.98 volts, but it still functions correctly. Amazing!
