one touch power saving TORCH "based on the charge storing capacity or capacitor" “ It can b quite useful gadget for those who goes on adventurous expeditions ." WORKING : On pressing the Button (key in this case for a second or less) charge get stored in capacitor from the batteries n now capacitor will play role of battery ... SO IN SHORT U CAN INCREASE THE BATTERY LIFE N GET LONGER TIME TO ENJOY THE EXPEDITION...... :)

But this would not work because, to load the capacitor you draw a really big current for a short while that is only limited by the inner resistance of the battery. In this short while the same amount of energy that is later drawn from the capacitor is put in to the capacitor. Minus the heating losses of the inner resistance of the battery. Sorry it would be a free energy device if it rally worked.

I agree with tpfohl, you can't get something for free. You will only get part of the energy back that you put into a system. That being said, if you used a magnet sliding through a coil to charge the cap it would put energy into the cap by shaking the torch.

appreciate ur feedback look m n the expert of all this .n as far as the torch is concerned i just have given an idea which can b modified in some effective n efficient way to make it happen.... so STOP CRITICISING N START THINKING :)

it's not criticism, it's fact

ok fact but tell how to make it happen

If you want a torch that will make the most of the energy stored in a battery you can use the joule thief circuit. It runs until the battery is nearly completely empty unlike with bulbs or regular LEDs which stop giving light the moment the battery drops below a certain voltage.

yes the thief ckt is a good idea

but what i was thinking if the capacitor get charged in friction of seconds n act as the source for longer time then it will save battery..

The time it takes to charge a capacitor is determined by the capacitance and current. Whereas fast loading means high current. If you draw high currents from a battery to charge the capacitor it will deplete faster and the saving effect will get nullified by that. The overall energy that is transferred stays the same with or without capacitor because of conservation of energy. There is regrettably no way that you can get out more energy than you put in.

Oh by the way the connection between transferred energy and time is that at a given rate of energy consumption by your bulb, if more energy is available then more time is consumed depleting it.

so what about connecting thief ckt along with mine (backup plan)
