@2newton, two totaly different circuita which you cant use to compare. Left common collector as voltage follower, right common emitter, which you kill by much to high base current Vbe supposr to be below 1V in max condition for most transistors BJT

@kiani, you beautified the circuit but took over this horrible PNP circuit part, please check it and change that disaster, this for newbies eyes is a horror

Let me get a go at solving this.

I tried to make it efficient and work aswell. Took me some time to tweak the resistor values but finally got a reasonable efficiency of 98.4%. Pretty good right?

wow @crake against a kid. Anyway, @crake this is only half the truth. @sshsslfun, how do you measure efficiency in such a useless circuit? im afraid the efficient must be much lower.

I just wanted to draw his attention to the wsveforms he had not displayed,, in his circuit, while beautifing it. removed it, as it might have been misleading if he didn't notice..

@ssh....here i've beautified your mango and it winks now.....chk....http://everycircuit.com/circuit/5846229326757888

This is simply a circuit and not "against a kid" or whatever that was supposed to mean/start: http://everycircuit.com/circuit/6588031583387648

@sshsslfun, can you do for us all how you calculated efficency, for this kind of circuits its a bit strange but lets see whats your idea is behind, please !

i guess you compare the overall current with the LED current and ideal 100% this circuit would draw 20mA or zero, is it this what you do?
sshsslfun

Yep, I divided the current drawn by the LEDs by the current in. But I kinda realize now that it should be PowerUsedByLoad/PowerIn and not current making my previous statement void. Oof.

right, even if you make it a power 0.02A x 2V is 40mW light, you normaly do not calculate such an efficency for indicator lamps.

Good point,, what is the efficiency of a TV.

i guess "negative"

😵 at least for your eyes
