Lead and Lag due to capacitor and inductor

Here we see that how adding a capacitor produces a lead of roughly 90°, i.e. the current leads voltage by 90° and the adding a inductor produces lag of 90°, i.e. the current lags voltage by 90° The Current in capacitor circuit leads the current in inductor circuit by 180° the addition of Capacitor or inductor produces reactive power, VIsin(a) in addition of active power VIcos(a), where a is the angle between V and I and cos(a) is power factor of the circuit
