It would be nice if this was explained to me because it's apparent that the exact same circuit with a switch achieves the desired result (resonant charging) whereas the circuit with no switch does not. 

   If the bottom circuit switch is closed before sim started, it is the same as top circuit. If left open before sim started and closed after sim start the result is different.
