Center row of lighted lamps is automotive light bulbs mounted on control panel on top of the elevator car. Outer lamps are photo - electric cells that send signal to elevator motors which way to move. SPST switches are vanes attached to the back of elevator shaft wall at proper height to have elevator floor level with outside floor when elevator doors open. As in the up/ down motion before the elevator doors open. Top three lamps are proper level for elevator doors to open and adjust level slightly as people load and unload from elevator car and cable stretching in tall buildings. photo- electric cells are blocked from center lamp. Middle three lamps show light able to get past vane to "up" photo- electric cell on the left to have control system raise the elevator car slowly. Bottom three lamps show light able to get past vane to "down" photo- electric cell on the right to have control system lower the elevator car slowly.
