With a flip-flop to square it up.

Input impedance for the control voltage:  5kR to +V, 10kR to ground.

Edited to add a capacitor and remove the DC bias from the signal source.  That input is part of a resistor chain, it's self-biasing.

Thanks. :) I'm surprised how easy the 555 makes these things; a little tweaking and it does the job.
