Caution listed below please read all.

555 builds large spark to jump spark gap.  If natural gas, propane, gasoline or explosive igniting fuel is used make sure a long (spark plug wire) is used between circuit transformer &  spark gap.  Use high turn ratio transformer like on small gasoline engine or car ignition coil.  

With care one should be able to make a large spark between points to impress your friends with light and noise or anything else you imagine it for, please continue to read the caution listed below for your safety.

You can make Glass glow (UV) blue and create ozone, skin must be protected from UV & UV eye protection must be used at all times. 
Use in a Very Well Ventilated area Only as ozone is Toxic to humans and pet's

This circuit is very dangerous and can stop your heart (kill you dead), high frequency and high energy are a very bad combination.

Wouldn't be easyer to drive the transformer directly with the transistor?

Much more current available this way & the transistor is not sinking the voltage spike.
