Voltage dividers produce output voltages that are a fraction of the input voltage. When the input voltage is distributed among the various resistors, a voltage division occurs. This example is better known as a resistor voltage divider used to create reference voltages. Furthermore, this circuit helps to reduce the magnitude of a particular voltage so that it can be measured and may be used as a signal attenuator at low frequencies. * Close one SPST switch at a time to achieve varying voltages ranging from 1V to 5V.
