The switching Preregulator keeps the supply voltage of the linear regulator just a few volts above its output, keeping the dissipation low. Anyway, this is not a final version, just a representation of such a circuit

Wow, that's a good idea of how to make an efficient, low noise regulator!

Good idea, but the circuit is too messy to be able to see it's function.

Now think about AC and you have a Class H amplifier.

The switching supply needs to be very fast to switch the rails reliably.

Class D is fast, as I already said but you ignored.

This thing here can still be viewed as class D (with slight modifications), I just meant the simulation stops working reliably when you try to increase the sampling frequency of the regulator.

Why does @BillyT always complain about how the circuit is being arranged? I mean it's important to draw your circuits well (not messy) but this ciruit here isn't that ill-placed and comprehensible enough.

@Superario_ii, I complain because most people cannot read jumbled circuits, it like some of those puzzle books that go around in circles, besides it's not what is taught in any educational institutions or done by any manufacturer of any product.

I'm with you @BillyT.

I don't care, I think the arrangement is perfect. Not being able to understand the circuit is another thing

That's fine :-). I was agreeing with BillyT's view in general rather than this circuit specifically since he does frequently refer to layout in his comments as Supermario_jj points out.

I think that the layout is fine, except for that wire that goes between the OP-amp's negative input and the voltage divider, which can easily be fixed. I do understand the difficulty of understanding this circuit, but it's layout is just fine. The only thing that could help are some boxes to define what each section does.

Let's go back to just discussing circuit function :-)
