The switch simulates the main battery dropping to a low voltage ( flat). The led is a peizo electric transducer, noisy to indicate the standby battery has taken over. The 5v battery is normal operation. The 2.9 battery simulates the main battery going flat or faulty. The 3.7v battery is the backup to supply the receiver and the peizo buzzer.
