Power Light with Dimmer

This circuit simulates a circuit I had to make in my EAA class.  It contains a light to indicate the circuit is energized, and a dimmed light simulating instrument lights.

I would add a resistor of at least 100 ohms in the beginning to protect first diode

Thanks for the input, but I don't have any diodes in here, just lamps. Did I misunderstand something, perhaps?
